As a service business entrepreneur, are you making these mistakes on your website? 5 Mistakes that could turn off your website visitors

Website Mistakes that turnoff your visitors

1.Using giddy( May be Unique but looks silly)names for normal things…

I have noticed many websites using these. It’s a ‘Development Zone,’ not a blog. It’s a ‘Invest in Me and Grow’ button, not a ‘Buy Now’ button. It’s a ‘My Journey’ page, not a ‘About’ page.

You see what I mean.

We all want to stand out and be unique, but this can also jeopardise the success of your website. By substituting more imaginative terms and phrases for traditional ones, you risk misleading the audience.

Instead, stick to common words/phrases, such as…

So, Why can’t you be Unique?

Your audience may need to take a few extra seconds to deconstruct what you’re saying if you use non-standard names.

Those few extra seconds might mean the difference between moving on to the next page and pressing the backspace key.

You should also think about SEO. I previously addressed the importance of making it clear what services you have.

Someone might look up the term ” Business content writer” on Google not the name of the package you offer.

Well, I’m not suggesting you shouldn’t be imaginative at all. You can strike a balance in a variety of ways.

If you want to name your service anything unusual, make sure you have a term that clarifies what it is.

“A successful website does three things:
It attracts the right kinds of visitors.
Guides them to the main services or products you offer.
Collect Contact details for future ongoing relations.

2. You Care More About How it Looks than User Experience

Your website is not a work of art to be gazed at and appreciated. It’s a vehicle for persuading the audience to take action.

I understand why you want to show off your beautiful website to everyone, but don’t forget about your end-user.

It’s all about finding the right balance when it comes to web design.

You’ll frequently have to strike a balance between design and SEO and user experience.

Take a look at Amazon, one of the most popular websites on the planet . Its Ugly website but works well.

Does that mean you can’t have a good looking website?

Obviously, it does not mean that you can’t have a Beautiful website. I’m not suggesting that you build an unattractive website.

Not at all. However, consider how you’ll get your audience to go where you want them to go.

For Instance , Take a look at Mercedes Benz  website; it’s both attractive and user-friendly, with straightforward headings and calls to action.

It really do not matter what industry you work in, even if it’s one where aesthetics are paramount, such as high fashion,  or photography.

If your user can’t navigate your website easily and hassle-free it will fail.

3. Pop-ups pops just when the visitor comes to your page

Popups are annoying because they interrupt you when you’re trying to complete a task.

Interrupting the guests is often considered impolite. Consider yourself in the shoes of your customer for a moment, and consider how they arrived at your website.

First and foremost, they have an issue. They go to Google and look for a solution.

They send it to you because your blog post shows up as one of the results.

But, what they see… BAM appears  ” Mostly Irrelevant to the Visitor – Pop Up/welcome gate”

How to Fix It: Change the timing of your Popup

It sounds simple, but timing is everything when it comes to popups, welcome gates, and slide-ins.

To follow some of the display rules are a great way to set timing rules for popups that will trigger the popups when they’ll be least intrusive and most likely to convert.

4. You Offer Just a Plain ‘Newsletter’

I’m sorry to tell you this, but no one reads your newsletter. I’ve included this since it pertains to you and your newsletter.

When, on the other hand, when did you ever get excited to signup for a newsletter?  I’m guessing it has  never happened and never will

So, Why shouldn’t you offer a newsletter?

At the end of the day, you must include something more to your end user than simply “sign up for my newsletter.”

You must make the trade worthwhile, exciting and Interesting.

You’ll get more email subscribers if you send anything in return for someone’s email address.

You’ll also gain credibility and establish yourself as an authority figure in your Industry or the Niche.

You may offer a free guide, Checklist, an email challenge, or a video series, to name a few.

Plus, you can give your Newsletter a name /Branding .

For Instance At Digitallydiv Agency we have Meh to Magic and Bits and Bytes -They are basically  newsletters wrapped in a trendy name branding

“Websites promote you 24/7: No employee will do that.”

It’s very much wrong, but I’ll be the first to confess that our Digitallydiv Agency About page used to be entirely about us(My Partner and I).

I’m not implying that it shouldn’t include information about you and your Team’s accomplishments ..  of course, It should! However, I believe it should not be solely about You .

The pain points of your target audience should be discussed on your about tab.
